Tofu? Yes Please!


I love to eat and cook vegan food. Each Monday I will feature a tried and true recipe from the week before. Here is one of my favorite tofu recipes of all time from the Refresh Cookbook by Ruth Tal

Crispy Tofu

Ingredients

1 cup of flaked nutritional yeast
1/2 cup of wheat germ
1 tbsp of garlic powder
1/4 tsp of sea salt
1/4 tsp of black pepper
1 Package of organic form tofu

Method

1. combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well
2. Cut tofu in to bite size pieces
3. Dip tofu in to the mixture making sure cover all areas
4. Place tofu evenly on baking sheet
5. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden brown

Ellecubed Modifications:
1. For a spicier kick, add 1 tsp of ginger, cayenne pepper or curry powder
2. To make these ingredients in to a tofu scramble crumble the tofu and add each of the ingredients one by in a heated pan.

    I have heard about nutritional yeast but have never actually cooked with it. I assume that I would need to pick it up at whole foods. What is actually in nutritional yeast?
