What do you wish to begin?

This week for Wishcasting Wednesday Jamie Ridler asks: "What do you wish to begin?"
My immediate answer to this question was to begin the journey to become my authentic creative goddess self. I chose to wish for this journey to begin because I have been having difficulty getting started with this one. Deep inside of me there is a longing to let out all of my creative juiciness out. But on the surface there are demons that are preventing me from doing it. Rather than confronting these demons, I shy away and put off finding my creative self until another day.
These demons really surfaced when I began doing the Artist's Way. The first week I was very excited and so happy that I was finally on the way to becoming the creative goddess I know I am. But near the end of the first week, the demons began to surface. They said things like:
- You are not creative
- You will never be able to make a living as an artist so why bother trying
- Remember the time your ninth grade teacher told you that you had no artistic talent. Why didn't you listen to her?
- You do not have the courage to pursue your creative dreams
- You are not good enough
The voices of the demons were so loud that I quickly shoved the book away and decided that now was not the time to focus on my creativity. Even though I could not manage to get through the first week of activities, I continued with the basics of the program. I continued to write my morning pages and go on artist's dates. And because I could see how powerful these activities have been for me the book continued to call to me. Each time I opened it, I got a little more courageous but still had to put it back down. This pattern has continued up until today. Today I picked up the book and turned to the page where all of the activities for the first week are listed. I went to the first one and those old demons became vocal again. They started to say the same old things that they always say. But this time rather than giving in to them, I acknowledged them and decided to write each of them out in my journal and give them the space to just be.
Today I wish to begin the journey to become my authentic goddess self. I wish to be able to combat my demons and continue on the artist's way journey and delve deeper in to all the facets that make me a creative radiant being.
You are not good enough.
You are better than enough. You are a unique thread that the tapestry of life needs.
Good enough is not good enough. You are better than!

Jumping around with the comments today! Sometimes it's good to mix up the order or go backwards or every third one.
Demons can be tough. But you can conquer them. Take little baby steps so the demons don't notice!! Pretty soon you'll have slipped by.

Reading about your demons made me think of something that I learned from a Reiki master. She said that when those thoughts appear it's a beautiful thing because they are being released into the ethers. As they show up, you can simply look at them and say, "Oh, there goes that one" and let it go.

You slowed down, gave yourself room to breathe, gave yourself space in which to trust yourself. That's wonderful. We don't need to push against the demons to heal, do we? It's nice to be reminded of that.

Those exercises have excavated a lot of pain for me as well ... but going through them I realized how I'd been given a positive counter-comment for nearly every negative one. I began to reframe some of the experiences. I royally told off my ex-spouse in the privacy of my journal. I'm no means fully emerged yet, but there's a tear in my chrysalis. I'll get out; I fully believe you will too.

I like the way you acknowledged your demons and gave them space...then, moved on. Every day will get a little easier as you continue to practice this. Pretty soon, you'll say, "What demons?" :)

I can relate so much to your post. I hear the same demons very often. It's one of my greatest challenges to keep creating when I don't feel like it. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also! Keep up the good work with The Artist's Way!
